I spent the morning listening to two individuals talk about the Israel/Palestinian dispute something that has been going on for thousands of years. He said : We need to force them to live peacably. Ponder on that - force and peace in the same sentence.
How do you stop two people from arguing? If one of the two is you - it is easy and in your control. When you are watching two others the problem is more difficult. Constructive communication is the answer with arbitration - but both parties must agree to the arbitration.
The Arthur Andersen/Andersen Consulting partnership dispute was an interesting process that I had the inside opportunity to experience first hand as a new partner. It was resolved by one person from the International Chamber of Commerce on August 7, 2000. The Partnership was over $18 Billion dollars and the decision was probably one of the largest decided by ICC - with over $1Billion dollars changing hands.
The years of arguing stopped - and history was littered with casualties.
